The invention relates to a novel crystalline zeolite catalyst (ZKU catalyst) having a superior catalyst activity and selectivity and a long catalytic life, and to processes for preparing the catalyst. One process comprises crystallising the starting zeolite preparation in the presence of a conditioning agent, consisting of a tetra-(lower alkyl)-ammonium cation, for the crystallisation. <IMAGE>
