<p>The roller skate has plastics wheels (2,3), which run in ball bearings on a spindle (1) mounted in a light alloy housing (5). Brakes are fitted to each wheel which are actuated by a small roller (34) running on a spindle (31) at the end of a lever (30). When the skate is tipped forwards the lever is pushed towards a brake housing (13). The housing forms a horizontal guide for two sliding brake blocks which are pushed outwards against the wheels by a pin with a conical surface. This pin is pushed upwards by the lever, and its conical surface engages matching surfaces on the ends of the brake blocks. The actuating pin is guided by a hole in a boss (17) projecting from the brake housing.</p> |
