There is provided a band for carrying playthings to form a rattle for a baby. The band comprises a resilient plastics, preferably polypropylene, member in the form of a loop with overlapping ends each of which has a shoulder and a locking face confronting the shoulder. The shoulders confront one another and the locking faces coact to resist separation of the ends by application of force in a direction tangential to the overlapping ends. A resilient plastics, preferably polypropylene, sleeve fits over the overlapping ends in abutment with the shoulders to resist separation of the ends by application of force in any other direction. Between the shoulders the resilient plastics member is of rounded, preferably circular, cross- section. The band is useful as a teething ring if not threaded with playthings. A method of making the band is also described and claimed. <IMAGE> |
