<p>The seat belt (1) is led through a deviating fitting (4) to the spool (2) of the retractor (3). In front of the vertical part of the belt (1) between the deviating fitting (4) and the retractor (3) deviating elements (23,24) are fitted rigidly to the vehicle body. In the gap between the two elements a loop (21) of the belt slack cancelling mechanism is positioned in such a way that the belt is led through the loop. The loop (21) continues with a pull rope (18) connected to a piston inside the cylinder (17) of the slack cancelling mechanism (7). On the loop-adjacent end of the cylinder (17) a distributing ring (9) is fitted connected to cartridge (8) containing an explosive charge which is set off by an electric impulse produced by sudden deceleration of the vehicle. The gases produced by the detonation drive the piston inside the cylinder (17) backwards and loop (21) tautens the belt (5).</p> |
