The insert conversion has a support sleeve (14) at the bottom end to hold a wedge shaped sealing ring with a wide base. This seats on any suitable sealing lip in metal tap housings. The insert has two ceramic plates with flow holes and with their relative settings controlling the water flow. The wide sealing gasket provides a universal conversion. The ceramic plates are polished and provide an accurate water flow control with little manual effort and with a long life. The insert is sealed on the outside by 0-rings.
