The inner housing (2) of the two part housing containing the spiral spring (3) is fixed on the sterring shaft of the vehicle. The outer housing section (5) is so arranged that is not effected by rotation of the inner housing. (2). The inner housing (2) has a core (6) on which the spiral spring (3) is ro#nd, this core (6) being eccentric to the steering shaft (1), and providing a fixing and contact region (7) for the end of the spiral spring (3). The other end (8) of the spiral spring is fixed to the outer housing section (5). The spiral (3) is made of an electrically conducting material, and forms the electrical connection between components which rotate with respect to one another, this connection method being more reliable than slip rings.
