The two domes (2,3) are connected internally by a breather tube (4). A connector tube (8) runs from a centre piece (7) of the breather tube to a point under the tank breather tube (9) which opens into the filler neck (10). When the tank is full, or is in the sloping position, fuel runs through the open ends (5,6) of the breather filling the tube with fuel. To overcome this drawback the upper end (11) of the connector tube, together with the nozzle-like end of the tank breather tube, forms a jet pump so that, when refilling the tank the fuel is sucked from the tubes. By having the breather tube located in the tank, the area between the domes can be used for a spare wheel.
