The installation is used to release pressure from containers and other closed chambers which may contain explosive mixtures. It has at least one locking element which in the event of an explosion releases an opening of a defined size in the container or chamber. The locking element (8) is in an effective operating connection with a damping device consisting of a stowage chamber (13) fitted with outflow openings (14') and containing a viscous damping device. The outflow openings (22) are made to have the opening width adjustable.
