The sifting machine classifies grain mixture into two or more sizes. It has several sloping sieves (4,5,6) one above the other at the inlet side (3). The mesh sizes of the individual sieves are appreciably greater than the diameter of the largest grains in the mixture. A further sieve (10) is connected to one or more of them, its mesh being equal or only marginally greater than the screen limit of the grains spilling and passing through. The sieves at the inlet side can slope at the same angle or different ones, and a blank floor (8) can be mounted above the additional sieve.
