PURPOSE:To protect super conductive coils from quenching by adding protector in the super conductive coils in a super conductive flux pump. CONSTITUTION:A protection resister 14 is connected parallel to a super conductive coil through a current breaking switch 15. This switch is normally open and closes when a coil 1 quenches causing the protective resister 14 to consume magnetic energy accumulated in the coil 1. Said switch is made ON via a quench protective control circuit 17 detecting an abnormal voltage by a detection circuit 16. The coil 1 is thus protected from quenching. A permanent current switch 7 and a super conductive transformer 4 may also be protected by breaking the power 3 of the flux pump or opening the permanent current switch 7 using the output of the control circuit 17. |
