PURPOSE:To produce plural kinds of hollow blank materials of dissimilar diameters easily and simultaneously by teeming the molten metal in a molten metal holding vessel through discrete conduit passages into plural molds and forming solidified shells synchronously in the respective molds. CONSTITUTION:The bottom parts of plural water cooled molds 1, 9 are communicated with the inside of a molten metal holding vessel 2 through discrete conduit passages 3, 10. Melt levels 4a, 4'a are fluctuated periodically by regulating the pressure applied upon the molten steel surface in the vessel 2 by means of the working gas supplied through a gas feed and release pipe 5, so that solidified shells 8, 11 of respectively different diameters are grown on the inside circumferential surface of the molds 1, 9. Plural pieces of hollow members are produced simultaneously by combining the intermittent drawing of such solidified shells 8, 11 and the successive growth of the next solidified shells. By this method, the plural hollow blank materials for pipe making are produced simultaneously and inexpensively irrespective of whether the diameters are the same or different. |
