This gas turbine apparatus contemplates to drive a turbine by compressing a combustible gas mixture with a reciprocating piston, introducing it into a combustion chamber, and igniting and exploding the gas in the combustion chamber. A wheel (2) formed with pressure plates (3) on the hemispherical surface thereof is contained in a housing (1). There are formed an exhaust port (4) and a combustion chamber (5) in the housing (1) and an ignition plug (9) is disposed in the combustion chamber (5). A piston (7) for compressing the combustible gas mixture is reciprocated by the rotary shaft of the wheel (2) through transmission bevel gears (12), (13) and a rotating crankshaft (11). A partition valve (6) with a retaining spring (8) is provided between the compression chamber and the combustion chamber (5). An intake valve (15) is provided at the inlet of the compression chamber, and is opened and closed by a cam (14) provided at the crankshaft (11). The combustible gas mixture is introduced from an intake port (10) through the intake valve (15) into the compression chamber and is compressed by the piston (7). The compressed gas mixture pushes open the partition valve (6) to enter the combustion chamber (5), and is then ignited and exploded therein, thereby rotating the wheel (2) and being exhausted from the exhaust port (4). This cycle can be alternately executed in right and left piston and combustion chambers. |
