A distributor plate or tray for (mass or thermal) exchange columns consists of a horizontal trough supplying a lower array of also horizontal troughs, pref. perpendicular to the first trough, through vertical discharge pipes vertical slits (3a). The first, upper trough (1) contains a narrow trough (2) inside it, the axes of the troughs being parallel, with the bottom (2a) of this narrower trough above the slits (3a) in the discharge pipes (3). Pref. the base (2a) of the narrower trough closes the upper end of the pipes. In a prefd embodiment (as shown), the vertical walls of the narrower trough extend downwards below its bottom to form hanging walls (2c), which have their lower edges below the bottom of the slits (3a) and above the bottom (1a) of the first trough. The inflow of water into the lower troughs is much more uniformly distributed than with the previous arrangement of a single supply trough with pressure gradients and surface disturbances. In the new arrangement the liquid is fed through the narrower trough (2), spills over its upper edges, and flows down outside within the wider trough (1) to pass through the slits in the vertical pipes.
|
