This invention relates to a ferrite single crystal represented by the formula: [(Li0.5Fe0.5)1-(x+y)MnxZny]1-aCoaFe2.0O4 where x is in the range from 0.1 to 0.4, y is in the range from 0.3 to 0.55 and a is in the range from 0 to 0.015. The ferrite single crystal is particularly suitable for use in a magnetic head structure.
