<p>PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display device having a rubbing orientation layer and drivable at a low voltage, by adding a specific 2-n-alkylimidazole to a liquid crystal sealed between a pair of oppositely disposed transparent electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The objective liquid crystal display device is obtained by adding a 2-n-alkylimidazole of formula (p=14-20) (pref. 2-heptadecylimidazole and its amount is pref. 0.1-0.3wt%) to a liquid crystal composition 6 sealed between a pair of oppositely disposed transparent electrodes 1a and 1b each having a rubbing orientation layer at the interface with the liquid crystal 6 and consisting of e.g. glass substrates 2a and 2b and the transparent conductive film layers 3a and 3b applied to the opposite surfaces of the substrates.</p> |
