Hitherto, mouldings were produced from highly filled elastomers by vulcanisation in moulds under pressure. It has now been found that mouldings can be produced from elastic, optionally expanded materials containing at least 50% of organic fillers more economically and with tighter tolerances by injection moulding if the fillers are first dried to a maximum moisture content of 1%, then mixed with a thermoplastic, elastic material adjusted to low viscosity, and this mixture is then moulded by injection moulding in a manner which is conventional per se.
