The embroidery frame for a sewing or embroidering machine has a plurality of fastening parts which are separated from one another and by means of which the embroidery frame can be fastened releasably to a carriage of the sewing or embroidering machine. When, instead of one fastening part, another fastening part is connected to the carriage, another region of the embroidery frame is brought into the working range of the machine, so that the embroiderable surface of the sewing material tensioned in the frame is increased.
