Root section of dental prosthesis - is pyramidal with triangular cross=section and concave faces

The tenon (12) which is inserted into a prepared root canal (13) has a dental prosthesis fitted to its upper end. It has a pyramidal overall shape with a triangular cross-section. The sides of the triangle (i.e. the surfaces of the root) can be planar but are pref. slightly concave. A series of openings are formed in the surfaces into which calcium oxide is injected to anchor the prosthesis. Some of the openings may be filled with antiseptic or moisture absorbing material.
