PURPOSE:To prevent reduction of volume and generation of gas by mixing a silver- nickel composite oxide into a positive electrode composite in an alkali battery containing silver bioxide as the positive electrode and zinc as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positve electrode composition 2 is filled in a metal case 1 and a separator 3 is placed therein. A metal sealing plate 6 is filled with gel-form negative electrode 5; fitted in the metal case 1 through an insulating gasket 4 at end portions; and closely sealed to make an alkali battery. The positive electrode composition 2 contains substantially dihydric silver oxide (AgO) as the positive electrode active material and then mixed with a silver-nickel composite oxide such as AgNIOx [1<X<2]. |
