Braking circuit for two-phase async. motor - has capacitor short circuited when DC braking voltage is applied to windings

The breaking circuit has the stator winding connected via a half-wave rectifier to the ac supply network. If the async. motor is a 2-phase type with a main winding (1) and an auxiliary winding (2) in series with a capacitor (3) then the capacitor is short circuited when the dc braking voltage is applied to the two windings. The two windings are in parallel. The main or auxiliary winding may be short circuited in addition to the capacitor.
