The engine has a cylindrical rotor (2) which revolves in an elliptical stator (1). A cylindrical bore through a diameter of the rotor contains two pistons (4) acting in opposition. The pistons have rollers on their ends which run on the face of the stator. The pistons move in and out of the rotor bore as the rotor turns so that the space between them, which is the working space, varies in volume. Fuel and air are admitted through ports in the end plates of the stator and enter the working space inside the rotor through passages in the shaft (6) on which the rotor is mounted.
|
