Process and Equipment for Introducing Gas into a Liquid, especially Air into Sewage

An aeration process consists in introducing liquid under pressure into a rotatable hollow body provided with discharge openings and which is rotating in a space containing gas, jets of liquid discharging through the openings impinging on the wall of a container in which the hollow body is located, the liquid being reduced to drops in the space containing gas. The apparatus is characterized in that it has a rotatable hollow body 8 provided with rows of openings 17 from which extend atomizing nozzles 9. Liquid supplied via pipe 10 to the body 8 is subsequently discharged from the nozzles radially outward to the container wall 3. The resulting aerated mixture is discharged via pipe 6 from the bottom of the container.
