PURPOSE:To stabilize settling and improve a measuring precision without the occurrence of turbulence to settling of grains, by a method wherein a partition is mounted at the inside of a receptacle so that it is positioned in parallel to a direction, in which a centrifugal force is exerted, and equally divides a housing part, and liquid pass holes are formed in the partition. CONSTITUTION:A partition 2 is mounted at the inside of a liquid housing of a settlting receptacle for measuring a grain size so that it is positioned in parallel to a detection direction X and divides a housing part into two equal parts. The partition 12, like a receptacle 5, is made of an optical glass which has a smooth surface, and minute liquid pass holes are formed in the surface and at an upper and a lower part from a center so that halves liquids 6 can mutually flow to each other. Additionally, when a cover 4 is placed over a receptacle 3, a flow gap, through which air passes, is provided between the cover 4 and the partition 12. Even if a vibration and an undulation phenomenon are likely to be created in the liquid 6, this constitution causes the partition 12 itself to act as a resistance, which results in enabling to prevent the occurrence of the vibration and undulation phenomenon. This stabilizes settling and improves a measurement precision. |
