Fixed geometry wind or water turbine - uses fixed blade turbine with blades perpendicular to wind flow to extract energy to drive hydraulic pump feeding hydraulic motor

The turbine allows the effects of variable turbine geometry to be simulated with a fixed geometry turbine by using the turbine output to drive a hydraulic pump whose (controllable) output drives a hydraulic motor, and hence an electric generator. The fixed geometry turbine has an entry cone which spreads the oncoming wind or water flow outwards onto the multiple blades which are evenly spaced round the turbine rotor. The blades are shaped so that the fluid flow passes through a convergent zone before being turned inwards to be carried to the centre of the rotor and exhausted behind the entry cone.
