The programmable timetable gives the names and times of radio and television programmes both in terms of normal text and machine-readable text. The machine- readable text may be printed in the same way and using the same ink as the people-reading text or it may consist of an invisible or a scarcely visible substance. In either case the machine-readable text comprises a bar code. The machine-readable text allows future programmes to be entered directly into a memory in the television or radio receiver using a reader, which simplifies transfer and minimises errors.
