The shock-absorbing deformation member for vehicles provides protection for the knees of the vehicle occupants during an accident. The member consists of a thin metal outer cover (2) fixed by its base (3) to the vehicle bodywork. Behind the cover is a bundle of thin walled metal or plastics tubes (4) whose walls are provided with ring or spiral corrugations. The member stretches across the full width of the vehicle and can be used as additional conduit for the vehicle wiring. The member can be surrounded by plastics foam to improve its appearance and to form additional cushioning.
