A keyboard includes keylevers 22 each operating through an interposer 24 and one-revolution clutch mechanism on combination vanes 42<SP>1</SP>... 429, the vanes being held in position after each cycle of operation. Depression of a key 21 lowers a corresponding interposer 24 which in turn depresses a bar 315 to initiate a cycle of operation during which engagement of a one-revolution clutch (36, Fig. 3) causes a bar 373 to oscillate once about the axis of a rod 38. The bar 373 engages a hook 245 on the interposer 24 to draw the interposer leftwardly, so that projections 248, 249 thereon move corresponding vanes 42<SP>1</SP> ... 42<SP>9</SP> to operative or inoperative positions according to a prescribed code. The vanes are mounted on shafts 41<SP>1</SP>... 41<SP>9</SP> each of which carries at least one bar magnet (44, Fig. 1) for co-operation with a corresponding reed switch, and carries a collar (49, Figs. 5, 7) formed with two recesses for receiving a spring detent (491) to hold the shaft in position until a subsequent cycle of operation. The interposer 24 returns to normal position through a spring 246, displacing a repeat preventing pawl 23 if the key is still depressed. Key interlocks.-A ball interlock 170, 172 prevents more than one interposer 24 from being lowered until a cycle begins, when the bar 373 prevents lowering of other interposers. |
