Pile mat for helmet during pile-driving - consisting of polyethylene, opt. with polypropylene

A pile mat to be fixed to the pile helmet on the head of a pile during pile-driving consists of a plate of polyethylene, or a mixt. of polyethylene and not more than 35 (30-25) wt.% of polypropylene, with shape corresp. to that of the head of the pile. The pile helmet consists of a metal sheath contg. a metal protective plate perpendicular to the axis of the sheath, and having the pile mats on both sides of the protective plate. The thickness of the mat is 5-20 cm. Pref., there is a central opening in the mat, to facilitate replacement of a worn out mat. The mat does not become over-warm during pile-driving and therefore has a longer life, which saves time. Special means for withdrawing the heat developed are not needed.
