<p>Equipment for applying two concentric layers of e.g. insulation and sheathing to an electric cable core comprises a static extruder mounted at right angles to the cable path and set up to apply the internal coating and a second extruder also mounted at right angles to the cable path and free to move relative to the aligment of the die of the first extruder, for independent adjustment of co-axiality and concentricity. The coatings are applied to the core simultaneously. Easier to construct and adjust than designs where the aligment of the first extruder die is variable and also interacts with the aligment of the second extruder die. The interfaces for relative spatial adjustment of the dies are planar, hence simpler and more robust than conventional radius interfaces, and lack risk of angular misaligment.</p> |
