<p>A plate heat exchanger is assembled from standard rubber or rubber-like plastic components. The basic component is a slab with open-ended parallel holes extending between the end faces for the passage of liq., and these slabs are combined with inlet and outlet components each having a feed hole and hollowed-out wall recesses acting as tube bends at the level of the slab holes. The components are engaged by lateral dove-tail slots and correspondingly shaped ribs. The tubular transition between adjacent components can be formed with inserted metal bushes. The exchanger assembly may be formed in multiple superimposed layers, and the individual components can be cut from continuous extrusions. Used for general heating or cooling, e.g. as roofing layer to collect solar energy. When used as heated flooring, the rubber has the further advantage of sound-proofing. The module-type assembly is adaptable to rooms of unusual shape.</p> |
