Slave loudspeaker unit on whose chassis 3 is placed an electrical circuit 6 and possibly controls. The electrical circuit is connected to a coil 5 secured to the membrane 1 of the slave loudspeaker unit, which is situated in a magnetic field created above a magnet 4. Since the electrical circuit is constructed so as to short-circuit the membrane's coil at predetermined frequencies, the dampening properties of the slave loudspeaker unit can be electrically controlled and altered. The basic reproduction characteristic of the entire loudspeaker system can therefore be varied without intervention in the amplifier, the active loudspeaker unit, the connections between them, or the cabinet itself. <IMAGE>
