A part circle impulse sprinkler comprises a sprinkler head 26 having a body 25 defining an internal water passageway, means supporting the head for rotation about a vertical axis, primary 58 and secondary 60 nozzles mounted on the body and connected to the passageway, the nozzles being arranged to produce parallel streams and the secondary nozzle 60 being positioned above, radially inwards and laterally offset relative to the primary nozzle, an impact arm 75 pivoted for oscillatory movement and bearing a deflector 82 which intercepts the stream from the secondary nozzle, spring means 90 for returning the arm to the impact position to produce step-by-step rotation of the head, and means for reversing the direction of said step-by-step rotation of the head. The reversal of the rotation may be accomplished by stops 40 acting on lever 100 by yoke spring 104, which may alternatively be raised to allow free rotation, said lever operating a toggle member rotatably supported on pin 98 and bearing a finger which moves into the path of weight portion 78 of the impact arm causing the arm to impact the toggle member and produce stepwise rotation in the reverse direction. The sprinkler may be mounted in a housing 12, 13, 14 below ground level from which it is raised by water pressure in use.
