PURPOSE:To skip unnecessary fields by pressing a key TAB, for commanding a skip over a field, corresponding to unnecessary fields when field control over printing operation is automatically exercised. CONSTITUTION:A carrier detection control circuit 32 controls a pulse generator 33, an insertion sensor 34, and a position sensor 35 to output signals from them. The pulse generator 33 generates pulses corresponding to the carriage speed of a document 2 to detect the extent of the carriage of the document 2 for the utilization for control over its carriage, and the insertion sensor 34 provided in a carriage path 4 to detect the document entering in the carriage path 4; and the position sensor 35 detects an printing-enabled state with the document 3 carried to a document printing position in the carriage path 4. Then, pulses generated by the pulse generator 33 after the position sensor 35 detects the document are counted to discriminate the print column of the document. |
