PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and workability of measurement by such constitution wherein contactors are mounted to measuring elements moved to the right and left by a driving device, the measuring elements are moved toward an object to be measured and the measuring elements move in an opposite direction when the contactors contact with the object to be measured. CONSTITUTION:While measuring elementes 3, 3' are positioned at both ends of a machine frame 1, a contactless switch is held turned on by the actuating piece 12 of a contactor 8. When electricity is conducted to a driving device 4, the elements 3, 3' move toward the center of the frame 1 on guide rollers 17, 17. When the contactors 3, 3' contact with the object to be measured, the contactless switch 13 goes off, and the elements 3, 3' are moved outward. Hence, the elements 3, 3' repeat rightward and leftward movements near the end part of the object to be measured. The potential difference between the brushes 14 and 14a of the elements 3, 3' is detected by the voltage applied to the resistance wires 16, 16a of a resistance 15 and a variable resistor 16c, and the width of the object to be measured is measured. Thereby, the reliability and workability of the measurement are improved. |
