[Also in Division F1] An injection timer for a fuel injection pump, comprises a sleeve 16 having internal teeth 17 and 18, at least one set of which is of helical form, moved axially by weights 24 against the action of a spring 19, the teeth 17 engaging teeth on a sleeve 5, keyed to the pump cam-shaft 1, and the teeth 18 engaging teeth 15 on a follower 9 rotated by an I.C. engine, the weights 24 being pivoted on the sleeve 16 at 22 and each having an arcuate cylindrical face 25 bearing on a plate 27 fast with the housing 28 and the cam-shaft 1 so that the contact point 33 between the two surfaces moves radially outwards to vary the restoring moment of the spring 19 as the weights 24 swing to produce a relative rotation between the follower 9 and sleeve 5. The plate 27 can be cast integrally with the housing 28. In Fig.4 (not shown), the face of the plate (27<SP>1</SP>) coincides with the axis of the weight pivot 22. |
