PURPOSE:To provide properties for absorption and quick drying of a water base ink for ink jet recording and enhance resolution and light-transmitting property, by providing a base constituted of a transparent medium and an ink-receiving layer constituted of a light-transmitting layer comprising an emulsion polymer composition prepared by emulsion polymerization of monomers or mixed monomer comprising specified compounds through using a specified quantity of polyvinyl alcohol as an emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recording sheet for recording images by using a water base ink comprising a water-soluble dye comprises an ink-receiving layer on a base. In the sheet, the base is constituted of a transparent medium, and the ink-receiving layer is constituted of a light-transmitting layer comprising an emulsion polymer composition obtained by emulsion polymerization of 100 pts.wt. of monomers or mixed monomer comprising at least a compound of formula 1 and a compound of formula 2, which is used in an amount not more than the amount of the compound of formula 1, through using 30-100 pts.wt. of polyvinyl alcohol as an emulsifier. In formulas 1 and 2, R1 is H or CH3, R2 is b or 1-5C alkyl, R3 is C1-C18 alkyl, and n is an integer of 1-20. The monomer of formula 1 may be hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate or the like, and the monomer of formula 2 may be methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate or the like. |
