Automobile speed regulating device maintaining correct vehicle spacing - monitors steering wheel movement to disconnect spacing control around bends

The speed regulating device adjusts the speed in dependence on the distance from the preceding vehicle. It also monitors the angular movement of the steering wheel and responds to movement through an angle outside a defined range to disconnect the vehicle spacing control until the steering wheel is brought back into the normal position. Pref. the vehicle spacing control is disconnected when the steering wheel is moved through an angle of more than 10 degs. in either sense. The cut-out device prevents the onboard radar responding to objects at the side of the road when the vehicle is negotiating a sharp bend and the preceding vehicle falls out of sight.
