Tubes, esp. those used for the uprights of pens in cattle stables, are galvanized by hot-dipping in molten zinc. The ends which are to be concreted into the stable floor are then coated by dipping into a fluidised bed of plastic powder after they have been allowed to cool to a suitable temp. Zinc plating alone is not enough to withstand the acid attack, caused by intensified silage feeding methods. Process is a reliable remedy. |
