Grain-oriented B-containing Si steel sheets with improved magnetic properties are produced by electrodeposition of Ca(BO2)2 onto fine-grained primary recrystd. Si steel using an aq. electrolyte at >=65≦̸C and pH 7 contg. Ca(AcO)2 boric acid, and solid Ca(BO2)2 followed by electrodeposition of Mg(OH)2 using an aq. electrolyte contg. MgO-buffered Mg(AcO)2 and heating the duplex-coated sheet to develop secondary recrystn. texture in the Si steel.
