The invention relates to compounds of formula VI wherein R1 is hydrogen or a group of formula -COOR5 in which R5 is C1-4 alkyl; R2 is hydrogen, halogen, C1-6 alkyl, trifluoromethyl or a group of formula -OR3 in which R3 is C1-4 alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, and salts thereof. The compounds are useful as intermediates in the preparation of novel compounds having useful anthelmintic properties.
