A multi-layer diaphragm 7 for a diaphragm pump comprises at least two layers 5, 6 of synthetic rubber having a fabric ply, and at least one flat ring 15 of plastics material, e.g. polyamide, sandwiched between the layers 5, 6, and spaced from an outer clamping zone defined by a flange 10 and a pump casing member 17, and an inner clamping zone at which the diaphragm 7 is clamped by means of a backing plate 8 to actuating means. The diaphragm may be reciprocated by a magnetic coil 11 surrounding a core 12 containing a rod 3 attached to an armature 4 located centrally within the pump casing by centering discs 9 and a coil spring 14. The ring 15 may have cut-outs in its outer and/or inner periphery, or it may be completely severed at one point. |
