PURPOSE:To facilitate measurement by eliminating the need for slipping, etc. by providing a noncontacting displacement gauge near the outer circumference of a drum. CONSTITUTION:At the center lining part 15 of a brake shoe 11, a recessed part is provided to expose the metallic surface of a rim 14, a hole 12a is formed opposite to it at the side part 12 of a drum, and a noncontacting displacement gauge 16 is provided near the outer circumference of the drum 12. During rotation of the drum, the brake shoe 11 under the normal pressure is pressurized through hydraulic operation to be expanded in the drum direction, and a distance d0 from the displacement gauge 16 is detected to measure the shoe clearance. Consequently, the measurement is facilitated by eliminating the need for slipping, etc. |
