The seat has an arm-rest (5) which can be removed. The seat (1) and the back-rest (2) are joined by a hinge mechanism (3) with a transverse axle (4) and at least one arm-rest (5) consisting of a flexible strip the ends of which are joined to axles (6,7) supported by the seat and back-rest. The axles on the armrests are formed with a groove into which fits the end of the arm-rest strip (5). A stop-piece (9) at the end of the axle prevents the arm-rest coming off. A second washer forms a strut between the inside edge of the arm-rest and the padding of the back-rest and seat.
