<p>The passive bearing unit consists of an inflatable textile shell, cylindrical in shape, containing an internal radar reflector (11), in the form of a triple mirror with triangular surfaces (12) which are also made of a textile material. The threads of the material are coated with a metal by deposition, the reflector being housed with a clearance in the interior of the shell and fixed by rubber ties (13). These join the corner points (14) of the reflector (12), and run orthogonally to the inner cylinder wall. The inflatable shell (10) has a connector support (15) below, for connection of the air supply, and is provided with an eye (16) above the reflector for suspending the device from the rescue island e.g. lifeboat. This radar reflector unit is easily inflated and is suitable for relatively small rescue craft.</p> |
