<p>A method of gasifying and also degassing liqs., esp. for oxidising water after other gases have been removed from it, consists of passing the liq. through an open stripping/degassing zone, then through a closed, sub-atmospheric degassing zone, and finally through a gasifying zone. Esp. used for degassing water to remove esp. carbon dioxide and nitrogen before the water is oxidised, for example for drinking purposes or for fish farming etc. The method avoids the need to over-oxidise the water to dispose of gasses contained in it. The first, stripping zone at atmospheric pressure removes predominantly carbon dioxide, while the second, sub-atmospheric degassing zone removes predominantly nitrogen.</p> |
