Footpath slab has a core layer of closed-cell foam, with two flanges or wings (2a, 2b) projecting out from two opposite sides of the slab to form a continuation of its underside only, the flanges being considerably thinner than the slab itself. Pref. the depth of the flanges is 10-25% that of the slab. Slabs are pref. made from cross-linked or not cross-linked polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene propylene rubbers, PVC, chlorinated polyethylene, ethylene vinylacetate. Preferred density is at least 50, pref. 70-200 kg/m3. Used for making access paths on flat roofs, terraces, car park roofs etc. The slabs are held in position by loose gravel poured around them and thus bedding down onto the flanges.
|
