In order to be able to construct gas turbine power plants with a variable output power on the basis of a limited number of basic components in a drive unit having three turbine rotors, the number of rotors (16, 17, 18) in the gas generating part and/or driving part is doubled. The driving part has a turbine rotor (16) which is mounted on the same shaft as the compressor (14) and the two other rotors (17, 18) form a drive unit which is connected to a gear set (10) for an output shaft. It is possible to double the number of rotors both in the gas-generating and in the driving part and one of them can have a common inner transmission shaft (21) between the gearing and gas-generating parts. The arrangement can be such that the driving part has a considerably larger gas capacity than the rotor of the gas generator, at least two gas-generating parts being connected to the same driving part. However, the arrangement can also be such that the rotor of the gas-generating part has a considerably larger gas capacity than the driving part, in which case at least two such parts are connected to the same gas-generating part. In the two last-mentioned cases, it is possible, depending on the space available and on specific requirements, to arrange the double rotor shafts parallel to or at an angle to the larger, common rotor shaft. <IMAGE>
