The w.c. seat has a stack (3) of superposed paper cover sheets (2) of horseshoe or elliptical shape. These are detachably retained by pairs of rubber lips (7) on a similarly-shaped backing of plastics which is removably secured to the seat by adhesive tapes. A layer of sponge may be interposed between the backing and the lowermost sheet. Separation of successive sheets is facilitated by tongues (8) and by making each sheet larger than the one underlying it. The cover sheets of the laminate are formed of water-proof oiled paper.
