<p>The internal layer is capable of producing a sterilisation temp. resistant heat seal. Pref. external layer (a) is of nylon, internal layer (b) is of polyolefin, esp. of high density polyethylene, polyproylene, ethylene-propylene copolymer and blends of polyethylene and polypropylene and the intermediate (c) is an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer. A further layer (d) may be adhered to layers (b) and (c) and is pref. a modified polyolefin, esp. polyolefin blended with a graft copolymer of polyethylene and an unsatd. fused ring carboxylic acid anhydride or acid anhydride grafted polyolefin. Laminate is for sterilisation and unrefrigerated storage of food products. Pouches, bags or covered trays may be formed and filled with e.g. potatoes, carrots, beef stew, syrup or tomato paste. The filled packages are suitable for microwave cooking.</p> |
