In an automatic analyser having a reaction station, on which a series of reaction vessels (16), which contain a sample to be examined and form a closed loop in a cocyclic arrangement, are positioned one after the other at predetermined intervals in an analysis position, and also having a reagent-feeding device (20, 22) which feeds the reagent into the reaction vessels (16), it not being necessary to change the reagent-feeding point when the reagent is changed due to an alteration in the subject of the analysis, and having an examination device (42, 44) for optical analysis of the sample in the reaction vessel (16) moved into the analysis position, the analysis is carried out by presetting the predetermined time as an analysis period, and the reaction station is controllable in accordance with a program which is designed such that the reaction vessels (16), to which the reagent is to be fed during an analysis period, are successively positioned in the reagent-feeding position. With this automatic analyser, any change of reagent and reaction time corresponding to a change in the subject for analysis is possible by means of a program change without mechanical alterations, so that an automatic analyser having a high operating flexibility is created. <IMAGE>
